Recently, nanotechnology has garnered enormous attentiveness in medicine, as it addresses numerous issues associated with the conventional therapeutic strategies such as poor pharmacokinetics, lack of targeting ability, and systemic toxicity. Herein, this article focuses on the insights concerning the impact of nanotechnology on the development of pharmaceutical products, which will emerge as a next-generation therapeutic platform and are envisioned to have a potential impact on public health. In addition, we highlight the existing challenges and prospects for their translation from bench to clinical practice.
