The Need for an International Medical Emergency Dataset

A significant number of problems in emergency care are caused by a lack of provider access to pre-existing patient information at the point of care. A particular difficulty is the access to information on the medical history of patients from other countries. This is due to a number of reasons such as language barriers, technical and safety hurdles, differences in expectations concerning content of the data and workflow differences between emergency room departments.
