Vizcaíno et al. river reach was of the braided type in 1956, while in 1999, it was considered a high sinuosity river. In addition, decreases in the agradation, causing incision of the channel and instability of its banks, has resulted in a highly altered, anthropic river. Bearing the above factors in mind, and in order to establish the basis for a restoration project for the Jarama river, we should start by giving the floodplain back to the river, thus allowing the development of its natural morphology and dynamics.
