Human subcutaneous dirofilariasis caused by Dirofilaria species, is a rare zoonotic infection. In recent times, there have been several reports worldwide, of infections caused by Dirofilaria repens. Dirofilariasis is now identified as an emerging zoonosis. Few cases of human dirofilariasis are reported from India, with Kerala being the focus of infection.
