Abstract This paper documents a project-based learning experience involving undergraduate architecture students working with a Fortune 500 construction materials manufacturer. The project required the students to design and construct components that were incorporated into a trade show display booth at a major international exposition on sustainable construction. The students were required to meet project criteria related to material preferences established by the company along with the sustainability criteria related to the exposition itself. The paper discusses the concepts underlying project-based learning and documents the evolution of this particular project from its initial conception through delivery. Recommendations for faculty considering similar learning experiences are provided.
