A versatile synthetic protocol of aza-Friedel−Crafts alkylation has been developed for the synthesis of quaternary a-amino esters. This operationally simple alkylation proceeds under ambient conditions with high efficiency, regioselectivity, and an exceptionally broad scope of arene nucleophiles.
