Resumo: Este texto tem por objetivo analisar as estratégias empregadas pela elite colonial brasileira no processo de apropriação territorial do Caminho Real do Ouro (Minas Gerais-Rio de Janeiro), por meio de concessão de sesmarias na primeira metade do sé-culo XVIII, cujo objetivo era tirar o máximo proveito da circulação obrigatória de pessoas e mercadorias por meio do abastecimento de alimentos, cobranças de passagens, alu-guel de ranchos, etc. nos pousos e fazendas que foram se formando
more » ... s sesmarias. O estudo baseia-se na análise de fontes documentais transcritas em periódicos específicos e obras de referência. Conclui-se que para a compreensão da formação territorial brasileira no século XVIII, não basta analisar isoladamente a mineração aurífera, mas toda a sua cadeia produtiva com destaque para o sistema de circulação que não só uniu o interior ao litoral, como também imprimiu uma territorialidade própria ao longo desses eixos de circulação. Palavras-chave: Caminho Real do Ouro, abastecimento, formação territorial Abstract: This text aims to analyze the strategies employed by the Brazilian colonial elite in the process of territorial ownership of the Way Royal Gold (Minas Gerais-Rio de Janeiro), through the granting of the sesmaria in the first half of the eighteenth century, whose goal was to get the maximum advantage of the compulsory movement of people and goods through the food supply, toll charges, rental ranches, etc.. in reposes and farms that were forming in these sesmarias. The study is based on analysis of documentary sources transcribed in specific journals and reference books. We conclude that for understanding Brazilian territorial formation in the eighteenth century, it is not enough alone to analyze gold mining, but the whole production chain with emphasis on the circulation system that not only united the interior to the coast, but also printed a territoriality itself along these axes of movement.
