Hydrocephalus is the abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the ventricles and subarachnoid spaces, resulting in increased intracranial pressure. The treatment of choice is placement of ventriculoperitoneal shunt. Ventriculoperitoneal shunt blockage is not an uncommon complication.
