This paper demonstrates why it is important to have a separate international covenant for the human rights protection of women or CEDAW. The paper begins by discussing the birth of human rights and its evolution to human rights of women in particular. Using Pakistan as an example, the paper discusses Pakistan's CEDAW country reports to date. The key issues presented by the Government of Pakistan in it's state CEDAW reports are highlighted.
