The article is devoted to the issues of the transition of the electric power industry to renewable energy sources. The study analyzed the total consumption of electric energy and the installed capacity of Russian power plants, as a result, it was concluded that the increase in energy consumption. At the same time, the study found that the share of renewable energy sources does not exceed 1 GW of installed capacity and there are no quantitative changes in the volume of electricity production
