A Study of the WEEE (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Recycling and Export in Korea

This study has addressed the current tendency towards the export of WEEE (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and its relationship with domestic regulations. Our conclusions are : 1) In Korea, even after the implementation of free collection based on the EPR principle, due to exporters of secondary goods, a considerable amount of WEEE (75 -90% of total collection by producers) is exported to developing countries, mainly because WEEE is traded as valuable goods in the context of WEEE
