Synthetic parameters of five W-type contact binaries

Synthetic parameters have been determined from observations defining symmetrical light curves of the five W-type contact binary systems SW Lac, U Peg, RZ Com, AM Leo, and AH Vir. In addition, a second observed light curve of each system was studied. The difference in the shape of the light curves for a given system can be explained by one or two subluminous regions on the larger component. Such a region may be caused by circumstellar material or by a starspot area. The position in longitude is
