C12HI3NO4S, M r = 267.3, orthorhombic, Pca2~, a = 10.159(5), b = 8.656(3), c = 13.950 (5)/k, Z = 4, D m = 1.43, D c = 1.45 Mg m -3. The structure was solved by the Patterson search method and refined to R = 0.054 for 960 reflections. No hydrogen bonding is observed and the structure is held together by van der Waals interactions.
