Decision-directed fine synchronization for coded OFDM systems

A new decision-directed (DD) synchronization scheme is proposed for joint estimation of carrier frequency offset (CFO) and sampling clock frequency offset (SFO) in coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. By exploiting the decisions provided by a Viterbi decoder and the information available on all the modulated subcarriers, we report accurate estimators of residual CFO and small SFO without relying on pilots.
