Abstract This paper analises Carlos Drummond de Andrade's poetry to study the relations between everyday life, art and alienation in bourgeois life in the beginning of twentieth century. Using formulations of Lefebvre and Heller on everyday life sociology, poems and biographic elements are analised to comprise how the fragmentation of life is manifested on drummondian poetry. As conclusion, the study finds that the conflicts between shape and content on Drummond's work reveals the bourgeois consciousness' crisis, in contradiction with the potency of the working class consciousness. This contributes to the notion of Lefebvre, Lukács e Heller about the potency of the study of everyday life to understand the assimilation of the totality by the particular subject. Besides that, the peripherical condition emerges as an important aspect that gives singularity to Drummond's aesthetics. His poetry is born from the permanent subject's struggle to reconect lost signals of non-commodification, meeting the otherness on fascism times.
