We propose a new method to compute the dimensional variations of fem or ferro magnetic materials induced by an electromagnetic wave. The algorithm used derives from a mechanical finite element method to solve stress and strain states of a solid. Magnetostriction is written using a quadratic relationship between deformation and magnetization.
