Solitary fibrous tumor is a well-recognized entity that most commonly involves the pleura; however, it has been recently described in other locations including the head and neck region, where it occurs as a slowly growing and well-circumscribed lesion. Due to its low frequency it may be confused with other neoplasms, and for this reason microscopic, ultrastructural and immunohistochemical features are necessary to establish its diagnosis.
