During the 1960s and 1970s, the musical group "Os Originais do Samba" developed a particular sound based on male choir and on a strong percussion seeking to musically process a commercial purpose with a aesthetic authenticity. The group, led by humorist and sambista Mussum, achieved certain prominence in the music market of the period by participating in shows, recording albums and performing on television, but never got full recognition of music criticism.
