The 1, 3-dinitroglycerin is an important compound to synthesize glycidyl nitrate, monomer of polyglicidyl nitrate (PGN). PGN is the most energetic polymer which can be used as binder of propellant. This compound was produced from the nitration of glycerol with nitric acid. This paper aims to obtain optimum conditions nitration of glycerol with nitric acid.
