Total nitrogen (TN) and amino nitrogen (AN) of kombu extractives extracted with 70% ethyl alcohol were quantitatively determined (Table 1) . By means of computing the coefficient of rank correlation (r), the contents and the ratio of both nitrogens (AN/TN) were compared with market price and the quality which was evaluated in the previous paper1).
