Digital processing of CT images

Methods are shown whereby reasonably continuous lung contours on a transverse thoracic CT scan may be obtained. Lung nodules are shown to be more readily detectable after suitable processing. An expert system shell is recommended as a framework within which the various image processing operators are invoked.
