This work describes the fabrication of porous some metal films by electrochemical formation and electrochemical dealloying of Zn alloys in a ZnCl 2 -EMIC ionic liquid, without using hazardous acids or bases. The effects of the amounts of deposited zinc, deposition potential, current, and temperature on the pore structure are described. It is worth noting that in this process, the zinc(II) species in the IL was consumed during the electrodeposition step but was recovered during the
