Collaboration networks potentially allow the development of innovations that generate high impact changes. The members of a network of this nature always have common objectives, but they also have a wide variety of profiles: Different languages, disciplines, professional experiences, and educational levels, among other characteristics. On occasions, this may make it difficult for them to understand each other when working collaboratively. This article presents the case study of an educational
more » ... of an educational innovation network; it describes its purpose, its work dynamics, and a series of tensions experienced in collaborative processes. Tensions are challenges to overcome derived from a work among people with multiple characteristics; and represent connections between the nodes of a network that must be addressed to avoid possible breakdowns. Tensions detected were taken as opportunities to create a model proposal for collaboration. The aim of this model is to facilitate communication and work processes among the members of a group, promoting a more efficient collaboration.
