Sempre no plural, posto que as estatuetas dos pretos-velhos colocam a baila questões que merecem serem desenvolvidas em nosso cotidiano: as representações e seus reflexos em espaços museais. Partimos da abordagem interdisciplinar e qualitativa na análise da cultura material tida como fonte primária e também da bibliografia levantada. O preto-velho e a preta-velha, como os próprios nomes já os identificam, fazem referência aos anciãos negros do passado, escravos e ex-escravos, visualmente as peças produzem um efeito ao referenciar através da sua forma, uma atmosfera da escravidão, conjugando características variadas entre o religioso, o social e o cultural. Esses vestígios recuperados, através de questões que partem do presente, nos remetem de certa maneira a lugares de memória (NORA, 1993), essas memórias que constroem parte de nossas identidades e patrimônios culturais, por isso, a crítica aos objetos e análise aprofundada da UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DE RONDÔNIA CENTRO INTERDISCIPLINAR DE ESTUDO E PESQUISA DO IMAGINÁRIO SOCIAL REVISTA LABIRINTO ABSTRACT Withregard to material culture, we often make referencesand associations subtracted from scales, dating, and types of fieldwork classifications. The objects of study here are part of a collection that besides handling objects we will be dealing with issues such as: people, memories and identities. Always in the plural, since the statuettes of the pretos-velhos raise questions that deserve to be developed in our daily lives: the representations and their reflexes in museum spaces. We start from the interdisciplinary and qualitative approach in the analysis of material culture taken as the primary source and also from the bibliography surveyed. The preto-velho and thepreta-velha, as their names already identify them, refer to the black elders from the past, slaves and former slaves, visually the pieces produce an effect by referencing through their form an atmosphere of slavery, combining varied characteristics among the religious, the social and the cultural. These recovered traces, by means of questions that start from the present, refer us in some way to places of memory (NORA, 1993), these memoriesbuild part of our identities and cultural heritage, for this reason the critique of objects and in-depth analysis of materiality can bring us closer to certain realities through different looks.
