Results. A long-standing women's hairstyle is not only a representative means of expressing beauty, but also a complex system of semantic elements, peculiar visual indicators that play an extraordinary role in the process of personality image formation. Artistic analysis of the Minoan and Mycenaean women's hairstyles revealed that in addition to directly artistic and aesthetic function, hairstyles should be positioned as a symbol of belonging to a certain age (child, teenager, young girl, adult woman, elderly woman) or social group, as well as important element of ritual. Novelty. The specific aesthetic, ritual and social aspects of the female hairstyle of the Aegean world are studied.
