Resumo Dentre as muitas representações acerca da vida cotidiana das/nas favelas da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, persistem aquelas que as reforçam enquanto lócus da ilegalidade, irregularidade, desordem e desconformidade, mascarando os processos de segregação do espaço e precarização das condições de habitação/moradia. "CATS IN SLUM": ELETRIFICATION OF SOCIAL INTEREST, EVERYDAY LIFE AND DEVELOPMENT IN CARIOCA'S SLUMS Abstract Among of many representations about the everyday life of the city of Rio de Janeiro's slums, there are those reinforce them as a locus of illegality, irregularity, disorder and disconformity, masking the processes of space segregation and precariousness of housing conditions. These representations can be observed in the orientation of public policies, as is the case of Law No. 3.723-A-2015, which establishes the Program of Electrification of Social Interest. The present article analyzes the electrification process from the program of regularization of the electric power supply in the slums, by the bias of the spatial development and the urban planning, taking into account the representations that obscure the reproduction of the unequal condition in the space and interfere in the everyday life's residents.
