Histological investigations of the lateral integument of the hedgehog Erinaceus europaeus (Mammalia, Insectivora). -The hair and spine areas in the lateral integument of the hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) were compared. For the first time, sensory pads of the epidermis with Merkel cells were observed.
