Playing On Heart-Strings: Experiences With The 2{H}Earts System
2002
Zenodo
Here we present 2Hearts, a music system controlled bythe heartbeats of two people. As the players speak and touch, 2Hearts extracts meaningful variables from their heartbeat signals. These variables are mapped to musical parameters, conveying the changing patterns of tension and relaxation in the players' relationship. We describe the motivation for creating 2Hearts, observations from the prototypes that have been built, and principles learnt in the ongoing development process.
