Bei der Einwirkung von Hydrazin und Hydrazinderivaten auf E. coli-Zellen werden biochemische Mangelmutanten erhalten. Als ergiebigste Methode erwies sich die Induktion mit Hilfe des unsubstituierten Hydrazins mit anschließender dreistündiger Penicillinselektion.
