Comparison of concrete compressive strength test using brackish water of indragiri river in Indragiri hilir

Brackish water has a high salinity level that provides a salty taste to the water. Salinity is the saltiness level or levels of dissolved salts in water. In the casting process-the environment in remote areas in the province of Indragiri Hilir, alternative use of brackish water as a concrete mixer is often done in order to produce a concrete construction in accordance with the needs of the field. ... ixer. Testing by comparing the compressive strength of concrete using clean water and brackish water taken from the river Indragiri Indragiri Hilir. The method used is SNI 03-2834-2000. Cylindrical test specimen diameter of 150 mm and a height of 300 mm. Testing of materials and planning the examination of concrete (mix design), quality of concrete fc '15 MPa with a mixed composition of water, 100% brackish water, brackish water 95% plus 5% water, 90% brackish water plus 10% water, 85 % brackish water plus 15% water and 80% plus 20% of brackish water.The results showed that the compressive strength of concrete using clean water of 25.671 MPa, 100% brackish water mixture of 27.772 MPa, brackish water mixture 95% of 27.137 MPa, brackish water mixture 90% of 25.232 MPa, brackish water mixture 85% of 25.186 MPa and brackish water mixture 80% of 24.725 MPa. Compressive strength of concrete using a mixture of brackish water of 100% and 95% exceed the compressive strength of concrete using a mixture of clean water. For brackish water mixture 90%, 85% and 80%, the compressive strength of the concrete is still above the limit SNI 03-2834-2000 for quality concrete fc '15 MPa at 22 MPa. It shows that the concrete mix using brackish water as a concrete mixer may be used in non-structural concrete mix (do not use concrete reinforcing steel).
