International Trade in food products, ingredients has been expanding exponentially within the past few years, and with this expansion, the exigency for application of uniform standards for determination of safety of these commodities. This trade often involves sourcing of products from developing members of WTO by the developed members. These inconsistencies often give rise to international trade disputes and leave the large quantities of food products at the menace of annihilation. This paper aims to study the impact of employment of safety measures by the developed countries acting as modes of disguised protectionism. Accomplishment of national priorities, chiefly those pertaining to promotion of international trade in foodstuffs and also in safeguarding public health, would advantage to the highest degree with the help of international efforts in balancing food safety regulations and legislations.
