In order to verify the influence of class and use and occupation of land on water quality, it was performed the characterization and analyzes of land use and monitoring of seven springs inserted in a watershed located in the rural of Viçosa city - Minas Gerais (MG) state, in Brazil. Through soil analyzes, carried out in five different profiles, it was possible to identify three distinct pedological classes: Argisol, Cambisol and Latosol.
