A simple and efficient one-pot synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans from the threecomponent reaction between dimedone, aldehydes, and active methylene compounds using NH 4 Al(SO 4 ) 2 AE12H 2 O (Alum) as a catalyst at 80 °C is described.
