Tuberculosis of the Esophagus

In Japan only 19 cases of tuberculosis of the esophagus have been reported since 1914, and twenty-five percent of the cases have been detected by roentgenologic studies and esophagoscopies with tissue biopsy. A case of tuberculosis of the esophagus is presented in a 49-year-old male complaining of sore throat and progressive difficulty in swallowing. The routes of infection and the modes of extension in lymphatic system in this particular case are discussed. The rarity of
