Analysis of Switching Event and Fault from Overcurrent Protection Using Symmetrical Components-A Review

The switching is quite common in power system. It can be treat as fault as well as switching events. The overcuuuent is for very short period of time cause by switching events, which does not cause any damage to the system. But due to unknowing of the fault or switching event the system get disturbed, due to the tripping of overcurrent relays which may be the critical matter. In this first we review the concept of symmetrical components and secondly analyze how the concept of symmetrical component can be use to improve the scheme. The proposed algorithm and criterion function is shown for fault condition and switching events by using MATLAB software.
