Thermal and mechanical properties of SiC-particle/ Al2O3 composite produced by direct metal oxidation process were investigated. The composite shows simi lar level of bending strength (537MPa) and fracture toughness (4.8MPa) comparing to monolith alumi na and SiC. On the other hand heat absorption at 578 caused by Al-Si eutectic and exothermal peak at 960 1140 resulted from AN formation were detected by PTA in N2.
