Resumo: O artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre a relevância dos vínculos coletivos criados em torno da identidade étnico-racial (comunidade), argumentando que a existência e o fortalecimento destes vínculos contribuem de forma decisiva para o processo de afirmação das identidades. Abstract: This article it reflects on the relevance of the collective ties that are created around the ethnicracial identity (community), arguing that the existence and strengthening of these ties decisively contribute to the process of identity affirmation. By using semi-structured interviews as an instrument to gather information, it was possible to perceive that all interviewees put much emphasis on their community, highlighting the strength that comes from the collective and helps them to stay at the university and to feel empowered to face the difficulties, be they economic problems or discrimination. In order to keep the subjects' anonymity, their names are fictitious.
