A new contention-based MAC protocol for geographic forwarding in ad hoc and sensor networks
2004
2004 IEEE International Conference on Communications (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37577)
In this paper, we consider a novel forwarding technique based on geographical location of the nodes involved and random selection of the relaying node via contention among receivers. A new collision avoidance scheme based on this idea is described in detail, and an approximate analysis is provided. The proposed scheme is compared with a similar solution basd on busy tones, as well as with STEM, and is shown to perform well for sufficient node density. Compared to the previously proposed
