Th rough out London 's history th e Th ames has functioned as th e city's main artery, but th e archaeology of th e ri ver and its flood plain has, until recently, attracted relati vely little attention. Now a wealth of new evidence of changes in prehistoric land use, vegetation and sea level is being recovered, some of which is relevant to present-day policies of ri ver management.
