In 'What Is an Ontology?' Guarino, Oberle and Staab offer a widely cited analysis of the term 'ontology ' [5]. According to them an ontology is, roughly speaking, a logical theory, which models approximate, as best as possible, the intended models according to a given ontological commitment (which is based on a conceptualization).
