An offender's decision-making process includes the assessments of pains and pleasures of crime within the context of their lives. This article analyzes the perceptions of auto thieves within the context of street-life culture. The rewards and risks for committing this type of crime are explored in order to understand the role that street-life culture plays in shaping the motivations for auto theft.
