The results showed that Weber's theory, that in cold vulcanization the fixation of sulphur is dependent upon the extent to which the chlorine combines with the rubber, and the quantity of sulphur fixed is governed by the amount of heat generated by the combination of chlorine with the rubber, is untenable.
