Extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) are pivotal in the protection of biofilm inhabitants against mechanical and chemical challenges. EPS production in a Staphylococcus aureus biofilm stimulated by fluid shear and mechanical pressure can be studied using a TriboChemist.
