Equilibrium, Kinetic and Thermodynamic Studies of Europium Adsorption by Biopolymeric Composite

Biopolymers materials can be used for many applications in various areas. In this study, prepared magnetic alginate/hydroxyapatite biopolymeric composites were used for removal of europium from aqueous solution. In this respect, the physicochemical parameters of adsorption process are investigated for optimum uptake conditions. The results suggest that these materials were proven to be potent material with chemical adsorption mechanism for reducing the concentration of europium with high efficiency in aqueous solution. Due to the high sorption capacity as 250.0 mg/g of the prepared material, plus its easy preparation process, economic advantage and environmental friendly nature would make these composites a promising removal and recovery agent for lanthanides.
