EVALUACIÓN DE RENDIMIENTO Y NITRATOS EN AJO cv. NIEVE INTA CON RIEGO POR GOTEO
The specific objectives of this work were: to determine the relation between leaf sap (JF) nitrate contents in the leaves of garlic (Allium sativum L.) cv. Nieve INTA, measured with a specific portable electrode and planting density and nitrogen fertigation levels; and to establish on different sampling dates, the nitrate concentration thresholds that are related to maximum yields. The trial was conducted on a loamy sand soil (Tipic Torrifluvent) in Mendoza, Argentina, with drip irrigation.
... rip irrigation. Treatments were three planting densities: 20, 30, and 40 plants m -2 , and four doses of N fertilization: 75, 150, 225 and 300 kg N ha -1 , plus a control. The highest yield (13 t ha -1 ) was obtained with a density of plantation of 40 plants m -2 and with a rate of 225 kg N ha -1 . Nitrate concentration in JF increased significantly from 182 days after plantation (ddp) reaching maximum levels at 197 ddp, corresponding to the onset of bulbing. The nitrate concentration thresholds to maximize yields, at the different sampling dates, were 0.99, 0.76, 0.87, 1.2 and 0.5 g L -1 for 152, 168, 182, 197, and 212 ddp, respectively. The results indicated that the methodology of nitrate concentration detection in JF via a specific portable electrode might be useful to determine the nutritional status of garlic cv. Nieve INTA and the management of fertigation.
