Bu esaslar çerçevesinde onun Kur"an anlayışının temellerini; Kur"an ve Sünnet, Kur"an"ın evrenselliği, hür aklın hüccet/delil oluşu, cedidcilik ve yenilikçilik konuları oluşturmaktadır. Dolayısıyla bu makalenin amacı, Musa Cârullah"ın nasıl bir Kur"an anlayışına sahip olduğunu tespit etmek, bakış açısını belirlemek, yorumlarının temelindeki Kur"an anlayışını ortaya koymaktır. Kısaca bu makalede onun yaklaşımı modernist ve gelenekçi yorumlar açısından ele alınmış ve neticede onun, klasik İslam mirası ile modern bilimleri senkronize etme gayreti içerisinde olan bir düşünür olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Abstract Musa Cârullah (1875-1949), a scholar from Kazan, is a notable thinker and actionist. His understanding of the Qur"an was deeply affected by his time. He searched for answers to problems of his time through the Qur"an, tried to make an intellectual revolution in the Islamic world, saw the solution of the contemporary problems of Muslims to return to the Qur'an and made a significant contribution to Islamic Civilization with his comments. In this article, we analyze his understanding of the Qur"an, role of understanding the Qur"an in revival of Muslims, his answers to social issues through the Qur"an and his modernist method and interpretation method of the Qur"an. In this context, the basis of his understanding of the Qur"an contains the Qur"an and Sunnah, universality of the Qur"an, being the evidence of the free mind and innovation and newness. Thus, the aim of this article is to identify Musa Cârullah"s understanding of the Qur"an, to determine his point of views and to present his Qur"anic understanding that he has. In short, his approach is examined from point of traditionalist and modernist interpretations and it is concluded that he is a thinker in a struggle for synchronizing classical Islamic inheritance and modern sciences.
