New Operational Mode of Diode Clamped Multilevel Inverters for Pure Sinusoidal Output

A new operational mode for diode clamped multilevel inverters (DCMLI) based on 5-level operation is proposed. This operational mode is based on a new technique called sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM). Such operation aims to avoid the imbalance problem of the DC-link capacitors for multilevel inverters with more than 3-levels.
