The Gypsies, an Indian people, emigrated to Spain. On their arrival, they first lived in harmony with the Spanish until the Reconquest of the territories under Muslim occupation, a reconquest carried out by the Catholic Monarchs. From 1499 onwards, they passed laws to force the Gypsies to abandon their nomadic lifestyle and adopt a settled life.
