A computational study of the standard large eddy simulation (LES) technique employing the dynamic Smagorinsky subgrid scale (SGS) model is compared to results using a highorder, implicit LES (ILES) technique with no SGS modeling. It has been shown in the past that ILES presents a viable substitute to the standard LES technique on canonical turbulent problems.
