Dentigerous cysts occur infrequently in dogs and they should be a primary consideration in young dogs presented with oral swelling in the edentulous area. They are even less common in cats compared to dogs. Classification of lesions in animals is not very different from those described in humans. Dentigerous cysts are most frequently seen affecting the mandibular first premolar area with unerupted mandibular first premolar teeth.
